‘The Genízaro Experience: Shadows in Light’

And it all happened in Northern New Mexico. “The Genízaro Experience: Shadows in Light,” a 2022 documentary, delves deep into a lesser-known chapter of Northern New Mexico’s past, where the fates of enslaved Native Americans and objectives of Spanish colonists interweave from a time born out of violence and servitude.


Documentary by former UNM-Taos adjunct professor eligible for Academy Award

“APACHE BLUES: Welcome Home,” a documentary co-directed by Dustin Sweet, a former University of New Mexico-Taos adjunct professor, and Dave Merlino made the cut as one of 167 documentary feature films eligible for an Oscar in the 96th Academy Awards.
