Chancellor Valdez bids adieu

December 10, 2020

Last week, Dr. Patrick L. Valdez announced he will be stepping down Dec. 31 to join the Maryland-based educational technology company 2U as its vice president for Program Strategy. “As a lifelong educator and advocate for first-generation college students, Dr. Valdez brought his own unique brand of dynamic leadership to the UNM-Taos campus, and he has been an invaluable part of the Lobo community,” said UNM President Garnett S. Stokes.   We couldn’t agree more.  Over the years, Dr. Valdez has challenged us to “be audacious” and as a result, campus has accomplished many great things under his leadership. We will miss Dr. Valdez and will honor his legacy by continuing all of the great work we are doing to support student success!   We wish you all the best in your new adventures, Dr. Valdez!  UNM-Los Alamos chancellor, Dr. Cynthia Rooney, will fill in as interim chancellor until a permanent replacement is found.  Read the Taos News article here:  https://www.taosnews.com/news/education/valdez-resigns-as-chancellor-of-unm-taos/article_1e771448-3708-11eb-b9b2-4fd1d826dd94.html
