UNM Taos provides several certifications that are stackable and can lead to an associate of arts in ECED.
New Mexico’s ECECD Child Development Certificate
This 11-12 credit certificate is stackable. Complete the coursework below and contact ECECD to complete a packet and receive your certificate. This certificate is for those working in the field, and highly recommended for Head Start and Early Head Start Teachers.
Required:
ECED 1110 Child Growth, Development & Learning (3)
ECED 1130 Family & Community Collaboration (3)
ECED 1125 Assessment of Children & Evaluation of Programs I (3)
Then choose either ECED 1115 Health, Safety & Nutrition (2) or ECED 1120 Guiding Young Children (3)
UNM-Taos’ Early Childhood Education & Development Certificate
This certificate is designed for students who wish to work or are already working in the field of early childhood and at this time not interested in an associate degree. This 29- credit certificate is a compellation of all the ECED required courses and FYEX, First Year College Student course.
