Nursing, CDL, EMT Students Get Financial Aid Boost

Río Arriba County & UNM-Taos get grant for rural EMS response program

The University of New Mexico-Taos and Río Arriba County have received $190,000 to train 48 new EMT first-responders to effectively respond to drug overdoses and other scenarios related to opioid use disorder across rural Northern New Mexico.

UNM-Taos Hospitality Coordinator and Culinary Arts Instructor Karla Nardi and her Fruit & Vegetable Carving class had been asked to create a centerpiece for a gathering with Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, elected officials, and local leaders on Sept. 7 at the Farmhouse Café and Bakery in El Prado. No small order, but they were up to the challenge.
