Once you have been admitted to UNM-Taos, you can register for classes online. Stay on track with your degree plan by enrolling in courses that fit your schedule.

If you are a non-degree seeking student, you may register in-person at the information desk in Padre Martinez Hall on the UNM-Taos Klauer Campus.

Steps to Register for Classes

Meet with Your Academic Advisor

Schedule an appointment with your academic advisor to discuss your degree plan and select the courses you need for the upcoming semester. Visit the Advisement Center to book an appointment.

Access the MyUNM portal using your UNM-Taos NetID and password. If you don’t have a NetID, create one using the NetID Registration page.

Search Classes

Use the Class Schedule to find the courses offered in the upcoming semester. Filter by subject, course level, and availability to find the classes that fit your schedule.

Select Classes

Follow these step-by-step instructions to add a class, drop a class, or join a waitlist for a class.

Add a Class

  • Click on Student Life tab
  • Click on LoboWeb
  • Click on Registration & Records
  • Click on Registration (Add/Drop), Course Search, Check for Holds
  • Click on Registration Portal at the bottom of Registration at UNM page
  • Click on Register for My Classes
  • Select the term you want to register for and then Continue
  • Read the student consent and Click on ACCEPT Financial Responsibility
  • Click the tab Enter CRNs
  • Type the 5-digit CRN (Course Reference Number) in the box, then hit Add to Summary
  • Do that for each class you want to register for
  • In the bottom right corner, you should see all the courses you want to enroll in
  • Hit Submit
  • The courses should turn green, if they do not turn green, you are not enrolled
  • If you get any red error messages, please screenshot or copy the message and send it to your advisor so they can troubleshoot the issue. If you do not know who your advisor is or how to reach them, please email taosadvise@unm.edu
  • Once you have registered, you should be able to view your schedule under Registration and Records: View Weekly Schedule. Be sure to choose the right semester to view.

Drop a Class

  • On the class summary section in the bottom right corner of the registration page, click the drop-down menu and choose Drop.
  • Hit the Submit button. You must hit submit or you will not be dropped.

Join a Waitlist

  • On the class summary section in the bottom right corner of the registration page, click the drop-down menu and choose Waitlist.
  • Hit the Submit button. You must hit submit or you will not be added to the waitlist.
  • Once you are on the waitlist, if a spot opens up, you will receive a UNM email letting you know you can register. When you get that email, you must go into the registration portal and register yourself—it is not automatic.
  • You have 48 hours before the semester starts, or 24 hours once the semester starts, to enroll in a class when you are notified of an open space from the waitlist.

Pay Tuition & Fees

Review your tuition and fee statement in the Business Office section of MyUNM. Make a payment or set up a payment plan to ensure your classes are secured.

Important Registration Dates

Check our semester deadline dates to ensure your education stays on track. These dates affect fees, refunds, residency decisions, timelines for making registration changes, withdraw records, and grades. Finals Week, break periods, and holidays are also noted here.

Registration Tips

Plan Ahead

For degree-seeking students, meet with your academic advisor early to plan your courses for the semester. This helps ensure you get the classes you need.

Check Prerequisites

Make sure you meet the prerequisites for each course before adding it to your schedule. This information is available in the UNM Course Catalog or the UNM-Taos Academic Catalog.

Balance Your Schedule

Consider your personal and work commitments when planning your class schedule. Aim for a balanced load that allows you to succeed academically without overwhelming yourself.
