Dual Enrollment
Your path to possibility starts here. Experience college early with the UNM-Taos Dual Enrollment Program. High school students at participating public, charter, or private schools can take tuition-free college classes at UNM-Taos and start working toward a certificate or degree while still in high school.
With dual credit, you can earn both college and high school credit at the same time. Each high school decides how these courses count toward graduation, giving you flexibility to explore your interests and build valuable skills. Dual credit courses let you experience college-level learning, explore career pathways, and get a jumpstart on your college and career goals.

Eligibility Requirements
To participate in the UNM-Taos Dual Enrollment Program, you must:
- Be enrolled at least half-time as a high school student
- Provide proof of current high school or homeschool enrollment and a valid state-issued STARS student ID
- Have a cumulative unweighted high school GPA of 2.5 for academic courses and 2.0 for career and technical education courses
- Meet all prerequisite requirements to register for courses
- Follow UNM-Taos’ Academic Calendar and know all important dates and deadlines, including semester start and end dates, add/drop deadlines, and the last day to withdraw with a “W” on your college transcript.
Dual Enrollment Programs
Dual Credit
Dual credit courses award both high school and college credit. Academically qualified students can take courses at their high school taught by college-credentialed instructors, on UNM-Taos’ campuses, or online. Tuition and general fees are waived; students are responsible for course-specific fees.
Friday Early College Program
The Friday Early College Program provides an opportunity for students to attend dual credit courses on Fridays at the UNM-Taos campus with other area high school students, earning both college and high school credit.
Concurrent Credit
Concurrent enrollment classes award college credit only. Students are responsiblefor tuition, fees, and course materials.
