Career Technical Education
FAQs
What is Career Technical Education (CTE)?
CTE programs give you practical skills and training that prepare you for the workforce or to continue your education. They combine classroom learning with hands-on experience.
What skills will I gain?
You’ll learn both technical and professional skills. For example, Construction Technology teaches safe building practices, while Culinary Arts builds food preparation and kitchen management skills. Business and IT programs strengthen your computer and problem-solving abilities.
Who should consider a CTE program?
These programs are a good fit if you want to enter the workforce quickly, gain new skills for your current job, or explore a trade or business field before committing to a longer degree program.
Are CTE programs only for young students?
No. UNM-Taos CTE programs welcome learners of all ages, whether you’re starting your career, changing paths, or building new skills.
