Math

The Mathematics Department at UNM-Taos is dedicated to making mathematics accessible to all students. We are aiming to switch students from considering math courses as a process (“I have to pass this sequence of math classes so that I can get my degree.”) to a preparation (“If I learn in these math classes I will acquire useful skills, which will help me in the future.”). Let’s prepare for the future by connecting math content to mathematical habits of mind and employment skills. Whether you are starting in elementary algebra or you are ready for Calculus I, we are here to support you in reaching your goals. We look forward to working with you during your academic career!

Natural Resources Management

The Natural Resources Management program within the Math & Sciences Department is for students who love the outdoors and want a job taking care of it. If you love fishing, hiking, and camping, then this is the program for you. We provide you with the education you need to understand environments, human impacts, and management approaches to protect and preserve wildlife, water, and land resources. We partner with federal agencies such as the U.S. Forest Service and local organizations such as Taos Land Trust to provide students with hands-on experience and skills. We support students through transfer to regional colleges/universities to complete Bachelor’s degrees. We have an excellent track record of job placement after degree completion.
