The New Mexico State Lottery Scholarship  
     

WHAT IS IT?

Tuition scholarship for New Mexico high school graduates attending New Mexico public post-secondary institution of higher education. Created by the New Mexico Legislature and funded from Lottery revenues-intended to make higher education more accessible to New Mexico high school students.

 
     
 

WHAT ARE THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS?

In order to qualify for the New Mexico State Lottery Scholarship, you must:

- be NM high school graduate (public or accredited private school or NM GED)-Spring 1996 or later,
- be NM resident (as defined for tuition purposes) and U.S. citizen (or permanent resident alien),
- have had full-time attendance (Fall/Spring) at a NM public post-secondary institution of higher education following graduation,
- maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA and be enrolled full-time each semester (12 hours), excluding summer.

 

 
 

WHEN DOES IT START? WHEN DOES IT END?

- For Spring high school graduates-starts in Spring the following year
- Available for up to 8 consecutive semesters or until student graduates, which ever comes first
- Only 4 semesters may be used at a two year institution.

 
  WHAT IS THE AMOUNT OF THE SCHOLARSHIP?

The scholarship covers class tuition (not including fees).

 

 
 

HOW TO APPLY?

There is no need to apply - if the student is eligible according to UNM-Taos records, the Lottery Success Scholarship award will be automatic.
