Services offered for Students

Textbooks
It is our goal to have available for sale sufficient copies of required textbooks for all classes offered at UNM –Taos at the beginning of each semester. We make every effort to keep book costs low. The UNM-Taos Bookstore does not charge sales tax on sales during the first two weeks of the semester.

Used Books
We order used books to keep the cost of textbooks as affordable as possible. Used books are ordered whenever they are available from the publishers. In some circumstances, this results in a combination of new and used copies in order to meet campus demand.

New Books
We order new books when they are not available used, or when the text required for a course is new or has been upgraded to a new edition. In some circumstances, this results in a combination of new and used copies to meet campus demand

Textbooks
Save your book receipts! Return your books as soon as you know that you will not need them. If you buy a textbook and do not use it you can get a full refund under the following circumstances:

• All returned textbooks must be in good condition and accompanied by a receipt.
• A new texbook must be returned undamaged. No writing or highlighting!
• We cannot give a full refund for a book containing a CD if the seal on the CD envelope has been broken.
• We cannot give a full refund for any book sold in shrinkwrap if that wrap has been removed. The refund price for such books will reflect a $2.00 re-wrappping fee.
• All textbooks must be returned by the last day to drop classes for a full tuition refund. This date is stated on the sales receipt and in the Course Schedule each semester.

Supplies and Clothing
We require your original sales receipt. Merchandise returns must be made within a week of purchase. The merchandise must be unused and undamaged.

The UNM - Taos Bookstore will order all of your required textbooks for you.
The Bookstore will not order optional books!

Each semester, an ordering deadline is set based on the lead time needed by our suppliers to insure the arrival of the order by the beginning of class. All textbook order forms must be turned in by the deadline. Orders received after the deadline will not arrive on time for the beginning of the semester.

• Please fill out the order form completely.
• Provide correct book Title, Correct ISBN, Publisher, Author, and be sure to list the correct Edition
.
• E-mail the completed form (as a message attachment) to your Academy Head for final approval.
  They will forward the order to the Boookstore.
• Please provide an instructor’s phone number with each order so any questions can be resolved promptly.

The bookstore offers copy services for faculty instructional support. Faculty members who need items copied should bring the material to the bookstore with a minimum of 24 hours lead time before the copies are needed. During peak times, such as the beginning or end of a semester, please allow 2 weeks lead time. Please remember that the UNM-Taos Bookstore is not allowed to copy more than 10% of any book due to copyright laws.
