Petition to Graduate Deadlines

  • Summer  April 1
  • Fall  June 1
  • Spring  November 1

 

It is required that you apply for your degree and graduation one semester before your intended graduation date, and it is highly recommended that you meet with an Academic Advisor  at least one year before graduation so that you can plan your last two semesters. Graduation from UNM is not automatic. You must state your intention to graduate by completing a Petition for Graduation. Students should meet with an Academic Advisor to do a degree check and fill out a petition for graduation.  Students who have privacy holds on their UNM account will not be included in the commencement program unless their privacy hold is removed.  Privacy holds can be removed by filling out the Student Information Proxy Form and submitting it to the Department of Student Success.

Students earning an Associate, Bachelor, Master, or Doctoral degree will receive the official diploma from UNM-Albuquerque Campus.  It is important that you specify the preferred spelling of your name on your diploma and verify your address by completing the electronic form at http://graduation.unm.edu.  If you do not sign up for your diploma, your diploma will be printed and mailed to the address that is currently in the UNM Student Information System.
