You must complete a FAFSA application every academic year for which you want to receive financial aid. You can fill out and submit the FAFSA application as early as January 1st of the year for which you want to receive financial aid. Most schools have a priority deadline of March 1st.

What does meeting the priority application deadline of March 1st mean for me?

Should I attend classes even though my financial aid hasn't arrived yet?

Yes, you must attend classes even though your financial aid file is not complete. You are responsible for paying for your tuition, books, and fees until your file is complete.

Is there a way for me to get my money today?

No, if your financial aid file is not complete, then you are not eligible to receive any financial aid. It can take up to 3 weeks for changes to your file to be implemented.

I got a letter in the mail and it says that I'm missing some information. What is the information that I need to submit?C

Can I get financial aid here and at another school?

No, you can only receive financial aid from one institution. If you do receive financial aid from two institutions, you will be contacted and made to repay the financial aid received from one of the institutions.

What type of information must I submit to be considered for financial aid?

This will vary from person to person. Some required information may be the student's tax forms, the parents' tax forms, verification forms.

What is verification?

Verification prevents ineligible students from receiving aid if they report false information, and it ensures that eligible students receive what they should. An applicant will be selected for verification if information submitted is inconsistent. Other applicants will be selected at random for verification.
