The University of New Mexico - Taos is a branch community
college of the University of New Mexico. We offer Associate
degree and vocational Certificate programs, adult
basic education (ABE and GED), workforce training, and courses
for personal enrichment. UNM-Taos programs are fully accredited
by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.
Facilities
The University of New Mexico-Taos has four main locations:
· The Camino Real building at 115 Civic Plaza Drive houses
the following: Central Administration, the Business Office, the
Bookstore, Student Affairs, the Library, Graduate and Upper Division
offices, and ITV classrooms.
· El Pueblo Hall located at 114 Civic Plaza Drive houses
the Department of Instruction and the offices of four Academy Heads:
Business and Computer Technology, Holistic Health and Healing Arts,
Professions and Liberal Arts, and Trades and Industry.
· Klauer Campus (NM State Road 570) is a multi-use facility
that encompasses computer and general science labs, the woodworking
shop, the photography darkroom, several art studios, and general
classrooms. The office of the Arts and Culture Academy Head is also
located at Klauer Campus.
· The UNM-Taos Medical Center facility at 1398 Weimer Road
is home to CASA (the Center for Academic Success and Achievement),
several classrooms, and the office of the Academy Head for the Academy
of Sciences.
In addition, several classes are held at Taos High School.
UNM-Taos facilities also include the Family
Resource Center located at 1335 Gusdorf Road, Suite Q.
Faculty
The faculty of UNM-Taos is predominately part-time (adjunct) with
a few who hold both teaching and administrative positions. All UNM-Taos
faculty receive approval from the appropriate departments of the
University of New Mexico. In addition many have had years of experience
working and/or teaching and enjoy outstanding reputations in their
fields.

Each academy offers degree and
certificate programs as well as courses for personal enrichment
and general enrichment.
Community Education
UNM-Taos offers a diverse selection of for-credit and non-credit
Community Education courses. The program provides residents of Taos
and the surrounding area with lifelong learning opportunities for
personal and professional growth. Courses are offered as workshops
or on a regularly scheduled basis and are instructed by qualified
and experienced Instructors. Special reduced tuition rates are offered
for senior citizens
(65+ years of age).
The Adult Basic Education (ABE),
General Education Development (GED), and English as a Second Language
(ESL) programs are offered through UNM-Taos as a community service
and are free for New Mexico residents.
Other Education Offerings
Encuentros de Taos:
UNM-Taos Summer Institute offers intensive, in-depth courses,
some for personal enrichment and some for continuing education units
(c.e.u).
The UNM-Taos Elderhostel
program offers cultural and educational experiences for the young-at-heart
in affiliation with the national Elderhostel organization.
