If there is a 2-hour delay it
is two hours from the time the University normally opens
which is 8:00am. If you have a course that is from 9:00-10:15
it will be canceled for that day. If you have a class that
runs from 9:00-11:30 your course will meet from 10:00-11:30

The University of New Mexico-Taos has an obligation to conduct its education, business and support activities on a regular basis despite occasional inconveniences caused by inclement weather. At the same time, the University has a responsibility for the safety and well being of its students, faculty and staff. The University will not close during periods of inclement weather unless conditions are so severe to endanger the University community. The Student Enrollment Director and the Facilities Operations Manager will determine if the campus will close. Employees will be advised of closures, delays or early dismissals, through KOAT Channel 7 News, KRQE News 13, KOBTV Channel 4 News, and local radio stations. Students can also access the UNM-Taos Snow Line at 737-6222 for specific information about the Taos campus.
Please Note: The University of New Mexico-Taos will follow the Taos Public Schools delay and closure policy.
In the event the University is delayed or closed, certain critical areas, due to the nature of the activities, will need to remain open. Critical activities will be determined by the director. Directors/Managers of critical activities will clearly communicate to their employees what their work attendance requirements are during severe weather, regardless of what media messages are being conveyed to the larger University population. PLEASE NOTE: If a 2-hour delay occurs that means that all UNM-Taos Facilities will open at 10:00 AM. The delay is 2 hours from the opening hour of 8:00AM. This would only affect courses that begin between the hours of 8:00AM-10:00AM. |
