Information Literacy Instruction

Library

A lifelong learner can always find the information needed for any task or decision at hand.

It is the goal of the UNM-Taos Library to help our students become life-long learners. Information Literacy forms the basis for life-long learning. "Information literacy is a set of abilities requiring individuals to 'recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the information need.'*

Scheduling Instruction
The computer lab, adjacent to the Library, is for individual instruction as well as for whole classes. Faculty may schedule classes for instruction throughout the semester. It is best to schedule sessions at least one week in advance. We recommend that faculty consider scheduling individual instruction for themselves, as well.

The professional library staff will instruct scheduled classes in conducting library research and in accessing resources available through this college.
