UNM-Taos Instructor Elected to Caltech Board of Trustees

UNM-Taos adjunct chemistry professor Dr. David Chavez has recently been elected to the Caltech Board of Trustees. A lifelong Taoseño, Chavez is a principal investigator and project leader at Los Alamos National Laboratory. He graduated with honors from Caltech, receiving his PhD in chemistry from Harvard in 2003.

Chavez was the recipient of Caltech’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2014 and the Ernest Orlando Lawrence Award from the DOE in 2011. In addition to his duties at LANL and UNM-Taos, Dr. Chavez is currently serving a second term on the Taos Municipal School Board and is involved in science outreach throughout Taos.
