STEM Technical Career Center project to start
Dear UNM-Taos Community,
The STEM Technical Career Center project start is around the corner. This project includes 10,839 gross square foot single story addition to the existing 3,995 gross square foot Career Tech Center and will expand the Klauer campus offerings in Biology (non-health sciences), Geology, Mathematics and Statistics, Environmental Sciences, Earth and Planetary Sciences, Astronomy, and Technology. The new space will allow for a Multi-Use Study Space, Math Learning Lab, and Faculty/Staff offices. In addition, the space will house laboratories for both physical and biological sciences. Also included will be the existing classroom spaces for Computer Sciences. The building is designed to complement the existing architecture of the Klauer Campus while providing functionality and flexibility.
UNM has selected Jaynes Corp. as the general contractor and the anticipated start date is March 5th, 2018. Completion is projected for December 2018.
Jaynes Corp. will be on-site Monday through Thursday from 7 am to 5:30 pm.
The construction site and the staging area will be fenced in the next couple of weeks. Due to the location of the construction site -in the heart of the campus-, we advise our community to be cautious around the construction site. Be aware of traffic, and take time to arrive to your destination. Below is a site map of the proposed site and affected areas.
If you have any questions, please contact Jessica Sanchez- Construction Manager at UNM Taos.
