Associate of Science in Emergency Medical Services
Emergency Medical Technicians are the hands-on first responders in the event of medical emergencies such as car accidents, heart attacks, and violent traumas of all types. EMTs also work in clinics, emergency rooms, and physician’s offices. EMTs take action and make decisions about the health and welfare of their fellow citizens on a day-to-day basis. Due to the nature of their mission, they are most often dispatched by 9-11 emergency operators.
If this is the type of challenge you are up to, UNM-Taos offers a variety of courses – from the one-semester EMT-Basic course through the 2-year associate’s degree in Emergency Medical Services – to get you on your way.
The EMS courses can be taken individually or as part of the EMS associate degree, allowing you to work in the field as you earn your college degree. For more information, contact UNM-Taos EMS Department Chair Josh Wright at firstname.lastname@example.org
