All Students

  1. Log on to the UNM main campus website (albuquerque):
    Forms and instructions are available online at https://www.applyweb.com/aw?unm

  2. You will be asked to create a user name and password.

    Your user name will be part of your user id when your application is sent to an admissions office. Enter up to 8 characters for your desired username in boxes on the computer screen. Lowercase letters and numbers only; no spaces. Passwords must be at least 7 numbers. Spaces are not allowed. Write the user name and password down and keep this information. It will be necessary if you need to make changes to your application later. Once you submit your application, your user id will also be necessary if you wish to correspond with the admissions office.

  3. Be sure to complete the entire form.
    If you fail to complete the residency/non-residency section of the form, you will be admitted as a non-resident. For more information on residency requirements, go to: http://www.unm.edu/preview/na_admis.htm and click on Residency.

  4. Transcripts:

    • If your intention is to enroll in a degree program, you must submit high school transcripts or GED record

    • If your intention is to enroll in a Certificate program and you are applying for financial aid, you must submit high school transcripts or GED records

    • If you do not intend to seek a degree or certificate, you do not need to submit academic transcripts.

    • To submit academic transcripts, contact your high school registrar's office and ask them to send your transcript to:

  5. There is a one-time, non-refundable $15.00 application fee. You will be prompted to provide credit card information as part of the electronic application process.

  6. You should receive an acceptance letter in about a week. If this letter does not arrive or includes inaccurate or confusing information, contact Student Affairs at 505-737-6200.

Transfer Students

If you have taken classes at a post-secondary institution other than UNM-Taos, you must apply as a transfer student.

  1. Fill out application on line (see steps above).

  2. Pay $15.00 application fee. Note- if you have previously enrolled at UNM-Taos but have not taken classes here for more than a year, the fee is waived.

  3. Transcripts:

    • If your intention is to enroll in a degree program, and you have earned fewer than 26 college credit hours, you must submit high school transcripts or GED records. If you have earned more than 25 credit hours, you must submit your college transcripts.

    • If your intention is to enroll in a Certificate program and you are applying for financial aid, and you have earned fewer than 26 college credit hours, you must submit high school transcripts or GED records. If you have earned more than 25 credit hours, you must submit your college transcripts.

    • If you do not intend to seek a degree or certificate, you do not need to submit academic transcripts.

    • To submit academic transcripts, contact your prior school's registrar's office and ask them to send your transcript to:

  4. You should receive an acceptance letter in about a week. If this letter does not arrive or includes inaccurate or confusing information, contact Student Affairs at 505-737-6200.


Returning Students

If you have have not taken classes at UNM-Taos or any other post-secondary institution for more than a year, you must re-apply as a returning student.

  1. Fill out application on line (see steps above).

  2. There is a one-time application fee of $15.00* due when you submit your application. This fee may be paid by cash, check, or credit card in the Cashier's Office, Room 6, 115 Civic Plaza Drive, Taos, NM, or by enclosing a check with your mailed-in application.

    * If you were ever enrolled at UNM-Taos or any other UNM campus, the $15.00 application fee is waived.

  3. Transcripts:

    • If your intention is to enroll in a degree program, and you have earned fewer than 26 college credit hours, you must submit high school transcripts or GED records, unless they are already on record with UNM-Taos.

    • If your intention is to enroll in a degree program, and you have earned more than 26 college credit hours, you must submit your previous college transcripts.

    • If your intention is to enroll in a Certificate program and you are applying for financial aid, and you have earned fewer than 26 college credit hours, you must submit high school transcripts or GED records.

    • If you do not intend to seek a degree or certificate, you do not need

    • To submit academic transcripts, contact your prior school's registrar's office and ask them to send your transcript to:

    • Note: If your high school or previous college mails your transcript to you by mistake, DO NOT OPEN THE ENVELOPE. We must receive official transcripts in a sealed envelope.
