Native American Initiative

 

 

Over the recent years in Taos County, there has been a decrease in high school academics as well as college attendance by Native American youth. In hopes of reversing this cycle, we have created the Native American Initiative within the College and Career Prep Program.

One of the first steps in starting this Initiative was to seek input, focus, and support from the Taos Pueblo Board of Education. By presenting our ideas, plans, and goals, we achieved full approval and support.

The Native American Initiative is a collaborative team effort with professionals from Taos Pueblo, the Taos Municipal School District and The Eight Northern Indian Pueblos Council.
